Douglas Haig

I have always had art in my life, even as a child. The more I tried to do other things in life the murkier things always became and I always found myself happiest when creating art. I am a lifetime art student and I mainly paint and draw. I enjoy helping others who create art because this world needs more unbiased people really looking at the world and interpreting it through overlapping truths. I wish to pay it forward to the next generation because I would not be where I am without the last generation. Art is and will be the most important thing in my life and without it I have no purpose or meaning. It’s my best representation of myself.

Public art is your public face. You can’t hide who you are if you are being honest with your work. Those who do public art expose themselves to others as their truest forms. It’s in a way to be free. I want kids growing up and being interested in art and pursuing careers that require creativity. I want to help make the space around us reflect the present, as well as the past. The collective knowledge of people being part of public art leads to real social change and acceptance.

Public Artworks:

  • A sidewalk stencil using the American Sign Language sign of I/you help you/I.
